Doomsday is coming and it’s set to be marvellous.
The Avengers are back, with Marvel Studios officially unveiling the first trailer for what is shaping up to be the biggest cinematic event of 2026. Avengers: Doomsday launches an epic new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reuniting Earth's Mightiest Heroes on the big screen for the first time since 2019.
The Avengers franchise has consistently delivered some of the biggest box office results in cinema history. In Australia, both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame sit comfortably within the all time top 10 highest grossing releases, attracting almost four million admissions each. Their success has cemented the Avengers brand as one of the most powerful entertainment properties of the past decade.
Excitement surrounding Avengers: Doomsday has been building for months. Robert Downey Jr.'s surprise return to the MCU as Doctor Doom was unveiled during Marvel Studios' presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, quickly becoming one of the internet's biggest most talked-about moments. The announcement ranked among the 15 most-viewed Instagram videos ever at the time of release. Marvel has continued to build momentum, with a series of teaser drops over the Christmas and New Year period generating more than one billion views and further cementing Doomsday as one of the year's most anticipated releases.
For brands, Avengers: Doomsday represents one of the year's strongest opportunities to connect with highly engaged audiences. The film is expected to over-index strongly among men 14–39 (178ix), while the scale of the Avengers franchise continues to attract audiences well beyond traditional superhero fans.
Avengers: Doomsday assembles in cinemas December 17.
