Introducing Gabrielle, one of the many faces of Val…
Alright, spill the tea: How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at Val Morgan Cinema so far?
I guess you could say advertising was always on the cards for me. My dad worked in the industry for 30 years, so it was written in the stars that I would follow in his footsteps. I started out working agency side for five years before landing an Account Manager role in the Val Morgan Cinema team last year. It has been a wild 18 months but was by far the best move I’ve made in my career.
I have loved every moment here at Val, but I think the best part is working alongside such a supportive, driven team who all genuinely love what they do. When I worked agency side, Val Morgan had a reputation for fantastic culture, and I can now confirm that it is well and truly deserved. The culture here is everything people say it is, and I consider myself so lucky to work with such an amazing group of people.
If your career were a movie, which three movie titles would best capture its essence, and why did you choose them?
Serendipity - I actually studied psychology at university but somehow found myself doing what was inevitable all along and ended up in media.
The Devil Wears Prada - the perfect nod to my early agency days, fast-paced, full of big personalities, and an incredible crash course in the world of advertising that led me to my dream role.
The Social Network - in every role I’ve had communication and connection have been at the core. Whether it’s building relationships, collaborating with teams or pitching ideas, being social (in more ways than one) has been key to my growth.
Your ideal work lunch: cooking up a five-course meal in the office microwave or embarking on a quest to find the best sanga in town?
If my bank account had a preference, I’d be bringing my lunch from home every day, but I like to keep it interesting and mix it up throughout the week. My current fixation is finding the best bahn mi in the city and so far I’ve found some unreal contenders.
If your professional growth had a fragrance, would it be a bold, invigorating scent like fresh coffee beans, a calming aroma like lavender, or something completely unexpected?
I’d say it would be a light and bright scent that sticks—something that feels full of energy but also familiar. My professional growth has been exciting and full of momentum, but at the end of the day it’s what I know and love.
Summarise your typical workday using three emojis and give us the inside scoop on what each one represents.
🍿 – we’re in the business of movies so I’d be remiss not to include arguably one of the best parts of the movie experience – popcorn!
🧠 – no two days are the same and I’m always using my brain to problem solve and provide the best solutions for my clients. From strategising to responding to briefs, my day-to-day takes a lot of brain power.
🍸 – my favourite way to end a busy work week is over a drink or two with my amazing clients.
