Introducing Lindsay, one of the many faces of Val…
Alright, spill the tea: How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at Val Morgan Cinema so far?
I started working in tax while at university, which quickly felt like it wasn’t the right fit for me. After doing tax returns for someone who worked at an advertising agency, I then made the jump with the intention to shift into film at some stage and now here we are.
I honestly couldn’t tell you the best part about working at Val because the entire job is a dream! I think we have the coolest job in the world, getting to talk about movies all day.
If your work ethic were a culinary creation, would it be a bold spicy curry, a comforting bowl of soup, or a zesty fruit salad? How does this dish mirror your approach to work?
I’d have to say spaghetti alla puttanesca, or some sort of “everything but the kitchen sink” pasta. Slightly chaotic with lots of moving parts but the end result is always great.
What’s your go-to “I need to lock in” song? What about it gets you in the zone?
Any musical soundtrack - Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Sweeney Todd... can’t explain why, it just works.
What is a recent campaign that you loved working on and why?
I can’t divulge too much on this one yet, but we’ve recently been working on a brief exploring some fun partnership ideas and activations. I love working on campaigns that go beyond just an on-screen buy, as that’s where we’re really able to showcase the full capabilities of cinema.
If your career were a movie, which three movie titles would best capture its essence, and why did you choose them?
The Devil Wears Prada — I love getting to wear heels to work every day, and my decision to study journalism at university was definitely inspired by the film.
Legally Blonde — Some of my biggest career wins have come from a combination of determination, resilience and backing myself.
Eat, Pray, Love — After my last role, I had to do some soul searching (and travelling, of course), which thankfully led me to Val.
What does a perfect day off look like to you?
Pilates, coffee, a salon blow-dry, sushi and a full-sugar Coke, topped off with a trip to the cinema.
