The 2026 Golden Globes flip the script on the supporting categories in the race to the Oscars.

Award season has shifted into a new gear following the Golden Globes, with the Oscars race beginning to take clearer shape at the top of the ballot. The Globes helped solidify momentum for Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) and Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), positioning both as frontrunners in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories for the 98th Oscars. The spotlight, however, was on the Supporting categories. Surprise wins for Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another and Stellan Skarsgård for Sentimental Value marked a sharp divergence from the Critics Choice Awards, turning the Supporting races into true nail-biters that now look set to remain wide open all the way to Oscar night in March.
