The Fabulous FilmFronts: here is everything you missed.

Our recent H1 FilmFronts events gave clients across Australia and New Zealand an exciting first look at the blockbuster line-up and audience opportunities coming in H2 2026.

The presentation opened by spotlighting cinema’s huge Q1 momentum, with total admissions up +16% YOY, horror admissions up +62% YOY, CALD admissions growing +10% YOY, and IMAX box office doubling following the opening of six new screens across Australia in the past year. We also revisited our latest Famous for Families research, exploring one of cinema’s most influential audiences. Building on insights from our 2024 Famous study the message is clear: brands looking to drive growth need to connect with families, and cinema remains one of the most powerful environments to do it.

With a packed and diverse H2 slate ahead, cinema is set to captivate a range of valuable and often hard-to-reach audiences:

Family titles

Youth titles

NEO titles

To close out the presentation, we looked ahead to the huge opportunities the summer period has to offer. Leading the charge is the ultimate blockbuster trifecta: Dune: Part Three, Avengers: Doomsday and Jumanji: Open World. Releasing within just two weeks of each other, these highly anticipated titles will dominate the cultural conversation and drive one of the biggest summer box office periods of all time.

Beyond the big screen, summer also unlocks exciting opportunities for brands to connect with audiences through iconic outdoor cinema experiences like Mov'in Bed and Moonlight Cinema, creating the perfect platform for integrations, sampling and bespoke activations. Brands can also extend the cinema journey through a candy bar domination, delivering standout presence across digital and ambient assets, alongside branded popcorn boxes and cups.
