Inside D23: The biggest reveals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and more.
Disney’s answer to Comic-Con, D23, brings the worlds of Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and Walt Disney Studios together for a major showcase of what’s coming next to the big screen. From first looks to casting reveals and franchise updates, here were the biggest theatrical announcements from D23 2026:
The Parr kids step up in The Incredibles 3
Pixar Chief Creative Officer Peter Docter revealed new details about The Incredibles 3, with the next chapter shifting the spotlight to Violet and Dash as they push to prove they’re ready to become real Supers.
The siblings have been sneaking out at night to protect the city behind their parents’ backs, while the family also struggles to keep Jack-Jack under control. Bob, meanwhile, is facing his own crisis as a new threat leaves him questioning his relevance in a world of Supers that may have moved on.
“Even though Supers are legal again, that doesn’t mean all Supers are good,” Docter teased.
Ernesto returns for revenge in Coco 2
It looks like Miguel hasn’t seen the last of Ernesto de la Cruz. Pixar previewed Coco 2 at D23, confirming Benjamin Bratt will reprise his role as the musical villain when the sequel arrives in November 2029.
Early sketches revealed that Miguel is no longer the young boy audiences first met, but a teenager embarking on a new chapter of his story.
“He’s a little menace who ruined a career and destroyed a legend,” Bratt joked of Miguel. “Ernesto de la Cruz is back for revenge… proving that fate has twists.”
Tangled steps into the real world
Rapunzel is letting down her hair once again, with D23 audiences getting their first look at Disney’s live action Tangled, starring Australian actress Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider.
Kathryn Hahn was on hand to present first-look footage, giving audiences their first glimpse of her as Mother Gothel, a casting long championed by fans before Disney made it official.
The reimagining of the beloved 2010 animated film will hit cinemas in March 2028.
Angel joins the family in Lilo & Stitch 2
Stitch is getting some familiar company in the next instalment of Disney’s live-action franchise.
Star Maia Kealoha appeared at D23 to reveal that Lilo & Stitch 2 will arrive in cinemas May 2028, with the sequel set to introduce Stitch’s pink friend, Angel, to the live action world.
Marvel assembles its new X-Men
Marvel has officially assembled its new generation of mutants, unveiling the cast of its highly anticipated X-Men reboot at D23.
Fresh off the breakout success of indie horror film Obsession, Inde Navarrette has made an impressive leap into blockbuster territory, landing the role of Rogue. Chris Abbott will take on the iconic role of Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, with Maya Boyd as Storm, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Kit Connor as Cyclops.
But perhaps the biggest surprise is Adam Driver finally joining the MCU as Mister Sinister, after years of Marvel trying to bring him into the fold. With Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously revealing that Driver had repeatedly passed on MCU roles, his decision to finally sign on as the X-Men villain only adds to the excitement surrounding the reboot.
The announcements follow Sadie Sink’s debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, rounding out Marvel’s new generation of mutants ahead of the X-Men reboot hitting cinemas in May 2028.
Ryan Gosling takes flight in Star Wars: Starfighter
Ryan Gosling is officially heading to a galaxy far, far away, joining director Shawn Levy on the D23 stage to reveal more about Star Wars: Starfighter.
The standalone film marks Levy’s first entry into the Star Wars universe, with Gosling leading the new story as pilot Kade and bringing major star power to one of cinema’s most iconic worlds.
Zootopia 3 is officially on the case
Judy Hopps and the residents of Zootopia aren’t going anywhere, with Disney officially confirming a third instalment in the hit animated franchise.
Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan are both set to reprise their roles in Zootopia 3, continuing the adventures of one of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ biggest modern franchises.
Wedding bells are ringing in Frozen III
Things are heating up in Arendelle, with Kristen Bell revealing a major milestone ahead for Anna and Kristoff in Frozen III.
Bell confirmed that Anna will officially marry her “mountain man” Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff, in the upcoming threequel, with sister Elsa naturally by her side for the big day.
It marks another major step forward for the beloved characters as Disney prepares to take audiences back to Arendelle for their next big screen adventure.
Bluey makes the leap to the big screen
Australia’s favourite Blue Heeler is getting ready for her biggest adventure yet, with D23 delivering the first teaser for The Bluey Movie.
The footage offered audiences their first look at Bluey and Bingo on the big screen, revealing the new CG animation style being used for the feature-length film.
Written and directed by series creator Joe Brumm, The Bluey Movie will continue the adventures of Bluey and her family when it arrives in cinemas worldwide August 2027.
