The six sci-fi blockbusters your brand can’t miss to reach male audiences.

2026 is shaping up to be a sizable year for sci-fi. From deep-space missions and alien encounters to post-apocalyptic survival and epic galactic adventures, the genre continues to deliver the kind of scale and spectacle that strongly resonates with male audiences.

This year’s sci-fi lineup brings together some of the biggest forces in filmmaking. Visionary directors like Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott return to the genre, franchise favourites like Star Wars head back to cinemas, and major book adaptations starring Ryan Gosling and Jacob Elordi promise fresh sci-fi action. For brands, it’s a prime opportunity to connect with highly engaged male audiences through one of cinema’s most immersive genres.

Here are six of the biggest sci-fi films set to captivate male audiences in 2026:

Project Hail Mary

Releasing March 19

One of the most exciting sci-fi book adaptations on the horizon, Project Hail Mary is based on Andy Weir’s 2021 novel. The film stars Ryan Gosling as a man who wakes up alone in space with no memory of who he is or how he got there, before realising he is humanity’s last hope to stop Earth’s destruction.

Adding even more excitement, the film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative duo behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and 21 & 22 Jump Street. With its blend of humour and high-stakes space adventure, it is poised to kick off the year’s sci-fi slate in spectacular fashion.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

Releasing May 21.

After dominating streaming for years, the galaxy far, far away is heading back to cinemas. Directed by Jon Favreau, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu marks the first Star Wars film in seven years and brings Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and Grogu, better known as Baby Yoda, to the big screen for a new galactic adventure.

With its massive fanbase and iconic universe, the film is expected to deliver the kind of cinematic spectacle that Star Wars audiences love, making it one of the most anticipated sci-fi releases of the year.

Disclosure Day

Releasing June 11.

Steven Spielberg returns to sci-fi with Disclosure Day, a genre he helped define. After classics like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Minority Report, Spielberg’s latest sci-fi project explores what happens when humanity finally learns that aliens do exist.

The film features an impressive cast including Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo, and is set to deliver the kind of awe-inspiring sci-fi storytelling that Spielberg is known for.

Flowervale Street

Releasing August 13.

Eight years after his last film, director David Robert Mitchell (It Follows, Under the Silver Lake) steps into the sci-fi genre with Flowervale Street.

The film stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as members of a family whose quiet suburban neighbourhood is suddenly transported to the time of dinosaurs. What begins as an ordinary day quickly turns into a fight for survival as they navigate a prehistoric world filled with danger.

The Dog Stars

Releasing August 27.

Ridley Scott returns to familiar territory with The Dog Stars, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama based on Peter Heller’s novel of the same name.

Set in a world devastated by a deadly flu pandemic, the film follows survivors navigating a harsh new reality in a fractured America. Starring Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin, the story blends survival drama with atmospheric sci-fi world-building, continuing Scott’s long legacy in the genre.

Dune: Part Three

Releasing December 17.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune saga continues with Dune: Part Three, the next chapter in one of modern cinema’s most ambitious sci-fi franchises.

Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides alongside Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa and Rebecca Ferguson, while Robert Pattinson joins the cast in a major new role.

With the previous films delivering massive scale, intricate world-building and striking visuals, the next instalment is expected to be one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.
