Meet Annabel Jelley, our marvellous Melbourne Account Executive.
Making her mark in our Melbourne Sales team, Annabel has recently been promoted from Sales Coordinator to Account Executive, a fitting recognition of her hard work and dedication to both her team and client patch.
Introducing Annabel, one of the many faces of Val…
Alright, spill the tea: How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at Val Morgan Cinema so far?
After completing my undergrad studies in Media Communications & Psychology, I was eager to get my foot in the door of the media industry. My time at uni gave me a great taste of the possibilities and I was excited to turn this curiosity into a career!
I joined Val Morgan in mid-2024 as a Sales Graduate. It was a super exciting time, and the graduate program was a great introduction to the industry and to Val as a business. Having the opportunity to spend time across each team gave me a broad understanding of how the business works, while also allowing me to connect with different people across the business.
After six months in the graduate program, I was lucky enough to step into a Sales Coordinator role within the Cinema team. Since then, I’ve been able to build on that foundation and find my place within the team.
The best part of my journey at Val so far has, without a doubt, been the people. I genuinely come to work every day excited to see everyone, and I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such a talented, kind, and fun group of people.
If you could swap lives with any movie star for a day who would it be and why?
Zendaya any day! Not only has she been hugely successful in working across several huge films whilst getting married to Spider-Man, but she also has an incredible wardrobe!
Your ideal work lunch: cooking up a five-course meal in the office microwave or embarking on a quest to find the best sanga in town?
Definitely embarking on a quest at lunchtime! I’m not much of a cook, so whenever there’s an excuse to head out and discover a delicious lunch spot, I’m all for it. We’re spoilt for choices in Cremorne, with so many great options right on our doorstep; there’s really no excuse not to go out for a walk, especially when the sun is out!
If your professional growth had a fragrance, would it be a bold, invigorating scent like fresh coffee beans, a calming aroma like lavender, or something completely unexpected? Justify your choice.
I think my professional growth would be a fragrance that evolves with each stage of my career. Fresh, energising notes reflect where I began as a graduate, while soft, sweet florals represent my progression into a Coordinator role, where I found my feet and built experience. Now, woody sandalwood notes anchor the blend as I step into my new role as Account Executive. As my career continues to evolve, I’m looking forward to seeing what new notes are added along the way.
If the mic is being passed to you at karaoke what song are you singing?
I always find it hard to decide on one song, but Unwritten is always a good one!
What does a perfect day off look like to you?
A little sleep-in before heading to pilates, then stopping over at a local coffee spot I love! Followed by a walk into the city for some shopping, a bit of thrifting or simply wandering around and enjoying the (hopefully) beautiful weather. I’d finish off the day with dinner and drinks with friends, ideally somewhere with a great atmosphere, vibey music and a table we can linger around for hours!
